A very serious problem...

Hey guys,
I'd like to take this opportunity to talk about a very serious problem affecting many of today's youth-specifically girls. This problem is known as "Body Dysmorphic Disorder," or BDD, and it essentially means that when someone looks in the mirror they see a distorted image of themselves, usually one that emphasizes their areas of perceived flaws. I'd like to talk about this because I've actually suffered from this disorder for quite a few years now. God. This is hard. But I have to come out with this. You see, when I look in the mirror, instead of seeing myself, I see a tiny gnome-like figure with an eye patch and a long white beard. I know it's mostly in my head, and it's really something I'm working on getting past, but, just like with any problem, it'll take some time. Until then, I'm just going to focus on treating my body with respect and combing my long, luxuriant beard. My heart goes out to any and all peoples suffering from this disorder.

Yours Always,
Toria
